Terms of Service
Last Updated: August 25, 2026
These terms cover the teaching and consulting services offered by The Tech Wizard, and the use of thetechwizard.com. The Tech Wizard is owned and operated by Judi Jacobs in Santa Monica, California. “We” and “us” mean The Tech Wizard; “you” means a client or a visitor to this website.
We have tried to write these in plain language. If anything here is unclear, call 888.332.2299 or email judi@thetechwizard.com and ask. We would rather explain it than have you agree to something you do not understand.
WHAT WE DO
We teach people how to use their technology, and we advise on choosing and setting it up. That includes one-to-one sessions in person and on Zoom, group classes, and workshops.
Two things we want to be clear about:
- We do not repair hardware. We are teachers and advisors, not a repair shop. If your device needs physical repair, we will help you understand the problem and figure out where to take it.
- We cannot guarantee anyone else’s products or services. Apple, Google, your internet provider, your mobile carrier, app makers, and other companies change their products and set their own policies. We will help you work with them, but we have no control over what they do and we cannot promise a particular outcome from them.
BOOKING AND PAYMENT
Sessions and classes are booked through our scheduling system, Acuity Scheduling, or by arrangement with Judi directly. Prices are in US dollars and are shown when you book. Payment is handled by Acuity Scheduling or Square. We never see or store your full card number.
CANCELLATION AND RESCHEDULING
We ask for 24 hours’ notice. If you cancel or reschedule a session at least 24 hours before its start time, there is no charge and no penalty.
If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, or do not attend, the session is charged in full. If you hold a package, that time comes out of your package hours. This is not about the money so much as the time — a reserved slot that goes unused is a slot another client could have had.
Life happens. If something genuinely unavoidable comes up, tell us and we will work it out.
If we ever have to cancel or move a session, we will tell you as soon as we can and reschedule at no cost to you.
Appointments that run past their scheduled time are deducted from your remaining package hours.
SUPPORT PACKAGES
Packages include a set number of support hours and are valid for a fixed period. The hours, the validity period, the support channels included, and the price for each package are set out in our current package chart, which we give you before you buy.
Two things to know before you buy a package:
- Packages expire. Each package is valid for a limited time from the date of purchase, stated clearly on the package chart. When that period ends, any unused hours expire.
- Unused hours are not refunded and do not roll over into a new package or transfer to another person.
We would much rather you use your hours than lose them. If you are partway through a package and have not booked anything in a while, say so and we will help you make use of the time you have left.
Packages differ in what they include. Some include remote lessons, in-home visits, office visits, or text support, and some do not. What applies to you is whatever the package chart said for the package you bought.
REFUNDS AND CREDIT
We do not issue refunds, including for unused package hours. Where it seems right to us, we may instead apply credit toward future sessions, classes, or a package.
If you believe something has gone wrong, please tell us. We would much rather hear about it and make it right than have you quietly walk away unhappy.
MEMBERSHIPS AND AUTOMATIC RENEWAL
Memberships run for the term shown when you sign up, and the price and term are shown to you before you pay.
Memberships renew automatically. Here is exactly how that works:
- About a month before your membership is due to renew, Acuity Scheduling sends you a reminder so the renewal is never a surprise.
- If your card on file is unchanged and you have given permission for it to be charged, the membership renews for another term at the price then in effect.
- If your card has changed or expired, the membership does not renew until you provide new payment details. It will not renew silently on a card you did not authorize.
To cancel a membership, do either of these before your renewal date:
- Cancel it yourself in your Acuity Scheduling or Square account, or
- Simply tell Judi: call 888.332.2299, email judi@thetechwizard.com, or text. However you tell us is fine. We will confirm in writing.
Cancelling stops future renewals. Your membership continues through the end of the term you have already paid for.
